I just got back in the saddle here in the UK after a visit to the US. There are two risk windows this week, Monday-Tuesday the 21st - 22nd of October and Thursday - Friday the 24th - 25th. In other words more or less the whole cotton picking week, pretty useless I know. That's why I didn't rush to publish something so worthless this weekend while recovering from jet lag.
Next week is a bit more interesting with the appearance of one of my crash risk windows which stretches from Tuesday October 29th thru Monday November the 4th. With the peak risk on the 29th, which is spookily historically interesting, because the 1929 crash occurred on Tuesday October 29th and of course because the window encompasses Halloween - boo. As anyone who has read my crash risk posts before knows, the odds of this happening is somewhere between slim and none, probably something like one in thirty or forty, but hey, I still wear a seat belt every time I drive/ride in a car even though in more than 50 years of driving I have never needed one. It's not just the risk that matters, it's also the consequences.
My last post with risk windows was for the week of September the 23rd which worked out pretty well as can be seen below in red even though most of the week was in a risk window, so maybe this week will as well.
Now for a rant. I already posted about this under a Rodgerdodger thread, so please excuse the repetition if you've already seen my other hissy fit. This trip back to Dixie was my first in almost five years. Between covid and buying and selling houses and fixing both of them up, I just haven't had the time to make the trip. I phone/Skype friends and family every week, so it's not as if I've lost touch, but apparently I have. I was shocked at the level of obesity and prescription drug use that I saw. What the heck has been going on there while I've been away? It looked like every one I knew had doubled in size and were infected by a zombie apocalypse bug, drugged out and in a stupor. It's not as if food has gotten any cheaper in the US while I was away. Many things that I bought in the grocery while back home in the US cost more than here in the UK which is ridiculous. The prescription drugs were pretty cheap since all my friends there are now old as dirt and get subsidized Medicare pills by the handful.
You guys need to get busy and fix this mess or something really bad is clearly going to happen.
Regards,
Douglas
